Yes. GLP-1a drugs Mounjaro, Ozempic, Saxenda, Rybelsus, Trulicy, Victoza, and Wegovy, generic Contrave (Bupropion/Naltrexone), and Metformin are FDA-approved medications with demonstrable weight loss in years-long clinical studies.
GLP-1a drugs activate GLP-1 receptors in the pancreas, enhancing the release of insulin and reducing the release of glucagon. The combination of these actions leads to glucose homeostasis, which triggers the burning of fat storage for energy.
Generic Contrave consists of Bupropion, which boosts levels of dopamine and noradrenaline, and Naltrexone, which suppresses cravings. The combination of the two has lead to significant weight loss in several studies.
